Lean Six Sigma White Belt | Fundamentals, DMAIC & AI, Learn Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC, 8 Wastes, 5S and Root Cause Analysis through practical examples and AI-assisted solutions.
Course Description
Learn Lean Six Sigma from the ground up and see how it can be applied to real workplace problems.
If you are new to Lean Six Sigma and want to understand how it works without getting lost in complicated terminology and advanced statistics, this course is designed for you.
You will learn the foundations of Lean, Six Sigma and the DMAIC improvement approach, along with practical tools that can help you identify waste, understand process problems, find root causes and improve the way work gets done.
The course takes you beyond definitions and theory. Throughout the lessons, concepts are explained using practical examples from areas such as manufacturing, IT, healthcare, logistics, customer service and other service environments.
What will you learn?
You will learn how Lean Six Sigma brings together two complementary ideas:
- Lean – improving flow and reducing waste
- Six Sigma – reducing defects and variation
You will then work through the DMAIC framework: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control, and learn how commonly used improvement tools fit into each phase.
You will explore topics including:
- Lean Six Sigma fundamentals
- White Belt roles and responsibilities
- DMAIC and DMADV
- Variation and process performance
- Defects, DPMO and Sigma Level
- Critical-to-Quality (CTQ)
- Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
- The 8 Wastes of Lean
- 5S
- Flow, Pull and Work in Progress
- Standard Work
- SIPOC
- Problem statements and project scope
- Data collection and baseline measurement
- 5 Whys
- Fishbone diagrams
- Root cause analysis
- Solution selection using an Impact/Effort Matrix
- Control plans and Poka-Yoke
How AI fits into the course
The course also introduces practical ways to use modern AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude alongside Lean Six Sigma.
You will see examples of using AI to:
- Review and summarize customer feedback
- Identify potential Critical-to-Quality requirements
- Draft a project charter
- Organize root-cause brainstorming
- Support problem-solving activities
The focus is not on letting AI make decisions for you. You will learn where AI can save time while keeping human judgment and process knowledge at the center of the improvement work.
Put the concepts into practice
One of the main parts of the course is a practical Lean Six Sigma improvement project.
You will work through a late-delivery case and apply the DMAIC approach from beginning to end:
Define → Measure → Analyze → Improve → Control
You will identify the problem, establish measurements, investigate possible causes, select improvements and put controls in place to sustain the results.
This gives you an opportunity to see how the individual Lean Six Sigma tools connect rather than learning each tool in isolation.
Practical resources
The course also includes practical resources to help you continue using what you learn, including a White Belt Cheat Sheet, Project Charter Template and AI Prompt Pack.
No previous Lean Six Sigma experience is required.
Whether you work in manufacturing, IT, healthcare, finance, logistics, customer service, operations or another business environment, the basic principles can be applied to processes wherever there is waste, variation, delays or defects.
If you are ready to build a practical foundation in Lean Six Sigma White Belt concepts and learn how to apply them to real problems, this course will give you a structured place to start.
