AI for Beginners: From Zero to Understanding AI, Understand machine learning, neural networks, language models, prompting, and AI ethics. No coding required.
Course Description
This course contains the use of artificial intelligence. Build a clear understanding of AI from the ground up. AI for Beginners: From Zero to Understanding AI is a twelve-lesson introduction from ML Empowerment Foundation, a student-led organization that teaches AI. No coding, advanced mathematics, or previous AI experience is required. Start by exploring what AI is, how it developed, and where it appears in everyday life. Learn how artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning relate. Follow the process of learning from data, and discover why training, validation, testing, and representative examples matter. Through approachable explanations and visual examples, compare simple machine learning algorithms and look inside neural networks. Explore how large language models use tokens and attention, how multimodal systems work with text, images, audio, and video, and why plausible outputs can still be wrong. You will also practice designing clearer prompts: define the task, provide relevant context and examples, specify a useful format, and revise the result against evidence. The course connects these practical habits with fairness, privacy, misleading media, environmental impact, and accountability. Each lesson combines narrated slides with examples and a short activity or check for understanding. This is a conceptual course rather than a programming bootcamp: you will learn to explain and evaluate AI systems, not build and deploy a production model. No paid AI subscription is needed to watch the lessons. By the end, you will be able to describe an application’s inputs and outputs, identify an appropriate learning task, recognize important limitations, and ask better questions about AI claims. The final lesson brings the course together and helps you plan small, checkable projects for continued learning. The lessons use AI-assisted content and synthetic narration. Treat model outputs as material to evaluate, and use the course’s examples to develop your own judgment.
Who this course is for:
- Students and complete beginners who want to understand AI from the ground up. Ideal for learners curious about machine learning, language models, multimodal AI, prompting, and responsible use. This is a conceptual introduction, with no programming exercises.
