Occupational Therapy and Pelvic Health, Pelvic Health, Occupational Therapy, Pelvic Floor.
Course Description
Hello and welcome to my Udemy course on Pelvic Health and Occupational Therapy!
Participants of this course will gain a foundational understanding of pelvic floor therapy, including common diagnoses, treatment approaches, and the unique role occupational therapy plays in this emerging and much-needed area of practice. This course is designed to raise awareness about pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD), reduce stigma, and provide accessible, evidence-based education for professionals, students, and the broader community.
You’ll explore topics such as pelvic floor anatomy, the core pressure system, breathing mechanics, and how dysfunction in this region can affect daily occupations such as toileting, intimacy, and physical activity. You’ll also learn how occupational therapists address these issues using holistic, client-centered, and trauma-informed strategies.
Throughout the course, you’ll find recorded lectures, downloadable handouts, and research-supported resources. A guided website tour showcases the patient-friendly tools I developed, including educational materials, home exercise programs, and advocacy flyers.
This course was created as part of my doctoral capstone at Mad River Rehab in Humboldt County, CA. It reflects a blend of clinical experience, continuing education, and a deep personal commitment to expanding the role of OT in pelvic health.
Thank you for being here—I hope this course empowers your understanding and future practice.
