Institutional Accreditation and ESG Part 1

This course provides a comprehensive and practical guide to preparing for institutional quality review using ESG Part 1 (European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area). It is designed for academic leaders, quality assurance professionals, and institutional managers who are responsible for accreditation, review, and internal quality systems.

The course moves beyond a checklist approach to ESG compliance and instead examines how accreditation panels interpret institutional systems in practice. Participants will explore how governance, strategy, programme design, student-centred learning, assessment, staff management, learning resources, information management, and public information are evaluated during institutional review. Particular emphasis is placed on coherence across systems, clarity of institutional ownership, and evidence of continuous improvement.

A key feature of the course is its focus on preparation. Participants will learn how to map evidence effectively to ESG standards, write analytical and credible self-evaluation reports, prepare staff and students for panel interviews, and manage accreditation site visits confidently and transparently.
