Basics for Overseas Communication , International student exchange: learning through cultural motivation.
Course Description
This course is designed as a communicative English program aimed at university students who aspire to participate in international academic exchange programs in English-speaking countries. The course integrates linguistic development with intercultural awareness and practical communication skills that students will need in academic and social contexts abroad. Instruction emphasizes contextualized language use, immersive classroom environments, and culturally informed activities that simulate real-life experiences students may encounter during an international exchange. The course is designed for students at an upper-intermediate level of English (A2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) with the objective of helping learners progress toward an advanced level (C1). Students are expected to have prior exposure to English grammar and vocabulary but may require further development in fluency, academic communication, and pragmatic language use. Through guided practice and contextualized instruction, learners will strengthen their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, as to develop an interest with culture, in order to communicate effectively in academic and social settings abroad. The course will be conducted on weekends, with two sessions per week, each lasting four hours. This format accommodates the academic schedules of university students while allowing for extended instructional time to engage in communicative tasks, collaborative activities, and immersive learning experiences.
