Excel Data Analysis for Beginners: No Formulas Required is a practical, beginner-friendly course designed for people with little or no Excel experience who need to work with everyday data.
In around 90 minutes, you’ll learn a simple, repeatable workflow that takes you from opening a raw CSV file to confidently summarizing and exploring your data—without writing formulas or learning complex Excel functions.
Rather than overwhelming you with equations and technical features, this course focuses on three practical skills you can immediately apply in the workplace.
First, File Management shows you how to protect your original data by converting CSV files into Excel Workbooks (.xlsx). You’ll also learn a simple YYYYMMDD date-naming convention that helps keep your files organized and easy to sort.
Next, PivotTable Summaries introduces one of Excel’s most useful analysis tools. You’ll create a PivotTable on a new worksheet, drag data fields into place, and use the simple Count method to quickly answer questions such as “How many records fall into each category?”—all without formulas.
Finally, Deep-Dive Analysis shows you how to move from the big picture to individual records. You’ll use Freeze Panes to keep your column headings visible and Auto Filters to isolate the specific records you want to examine.
The course uses a blended learning approach designed by specialists, utilising AI to create a range of engaging content, specifically for beginners. Audio Overviews introduce each topic in plain language, Video Walkthroughs and visual Mind Maps guide you through hands-on practice, and printable step-by-step guides provide a useful desk reference during and after the course.
By the end of the course, you’ll have a straightforward Excel workflow for protecting, summarizing, filtering, and exploring data with confidence—without relying on formulas.
