3D Modeling Fundamentals: Extrude, Revolve, and Loft

1

3D Modeling Fundamentals: Extrude, Revolve, and Loft , Explore the core tools of 3D modeling — Extrude, Revolve, and Loft — learn where to apply each, and bring them together.

Course Description

Welcome to 3D Modeling Fundamentals: Extrude, Revolve, and Loft, the starting point for anyone looking to get started with 3D modeling in a professional CAD environment. This course gives you a solid foundation by focusing on the three essential tools you will use across virtually every design project — Extrude, Revolve, and Loft — and teaches you not just how they work, but where and when to apply them. Led by 3D designer and educator Claas Kuhnen, this course is designed for designers and professionals who are ready to move from a foundational understanding of 3D concepts into confident, hands-on practice.

This course teaches you the logic behind each tool and the types of geometry it is designed to solve. You will learn when to extrude a profile along a direction, when to revolve a cross-section to achieve sculpted forms, and when to connect multiple profiles with the Loft tool to produce transitions that neither Extrude nor Revolve can achieve alone.

The course culminates in a full design walkthrough — the modeling of a water bottle — that brings all three tools together. You will work through real modeling decisions, combining techniques and applying the judgment you have built to complete a finished, presentation-ready design.

Who this course is for:

  • Designers and creatives with a basic understanding of 3D concepts who want a practical, project-based introduction to modeling in Shapr3D.
  • Industrial designers and product designers looking to expand their CAD toolkit with a modern, history-based modeling environment.
  • Students and hobbyists transitioning from other 3D tools who want to learn Shapr3D’s core modeling workflow through hands-on practice.
  • Professionals exploring Shapr3D for the first time who want to understand when and how to apply Extrude, Revolve, and Loft to real design challenges.
We will be happy to hear your thoughts
